????‍♀️ My First Week as a Civil Engineer on Site | Real Work Experience ????

Welcome to my first week at work vlog as a Civil Engineer! ????????‍♀️ Join me as I take you behind the scenes of my journey stepping into the construction industry, embracing real site experience, and learning what it truly means to work on active engineering projects. This video captures my real-life documentation as a young professional entering the structural, civil works and site coordination space.

In this vlog, I walk you through how I prepared for my first day, including securing site boots, PPE, overalls, safety helmet, reflective wear and tools required for my field tasks. I highlight the site safety inductions, toolbox talks, engineering briefings and daily check-in procedures that every new engineer experiences when joining a construction project.

Throughout the week, I interact with site supervisors, engineers, foremen and other consultants and learn how to handle construction drawings, specifications, method statements and quality checks. This vlog will be valuable for students, recent graduates, trainee engineers and anyone curious about real-life responsibilities of a civil engineer in her early career phase.

From setting out works, inspecting reinforcements, checking concrete pour stages, supervising subcontractors, managing materials delivery, verifying measurements and preparing reports—this week taught me a lot about civil engineering project execution.

You will also see key engineering activities such as:
✔ foundation marking and excavation
✔ understanding levels, benchmarks and site surveying basics
✔ structural member inspection
✔ quality assurance documentation
✔ coordination meetings

In addition to technical exposure, I share my personal emotional journey: navigating workplace confidence, professional communication, adapting to early mornings, improving efficiency, and balancing expectations.

If you are a civil engineering student, graduate trainee, junior engineer or apprentice, this vlog will give you insight into how engineering knowledge meets real field work.
