One day to drive around Orkney Mainland and see as many landmarks and attractions as we can! Ready for the ultimate Scottish road trip? Welcome to ORKNEY, an archipelago bursting with ancient wonders and dramatic coastlines! In this video, we pack a massive itinerary into one epic driving day across ORKNEY mainland. If you don't have a car, don't worry—we also share public transport tips so you can see these exact same spots. Discovering ORKNEY is like walking straight through thousands of years of human history.

Our whirlwind day begins at the beautiful Italian Chapel, built by prisoners during World War II. From there, we head back into deep history to see Skara Brae and Skaill House, an incredibly preserved Neolithic village older than the Egyptian pyramids. Next, we hit the coast for a bracing hike along the dramatic Yesnaby Cliffs before wandering through the charming, stone-built town of Stromness.

We also stop by the Kirbuster Farm Museum to see traditional island life, catch a glimpse of the tidal island of the Brough of Birsay, and marvel at the giant standing stones at the Ring of Brodgar. Finally, we finish our day by crossing the historic Churchill Barriers.

Its a fun packed day and we'll include maps along the way so you can use it for your very own Orkney Road Trip!
